Accreditation

Maryland AEYC is committed to quality early childhood education throughout the state of Maryland. We recognize that quality early childhood experiences directly impact a child's success in school and in life. Our commitment to high quality early childhood education is reflected in how we initiate and support programs throughout Maryland.

Our priorities are to:

  1. educate the community about the new accreditation process and standards (includes center directors, Maryland AEYC members, organization leaders, politicians)
  2. identify and disseminate information, resources and tools that support the broader child care community in becoming or maintaining accreditation
  3. identify and promote training and education opportunities that align with accreditation criteria
  4. identify and promote resources to support programs in achieving additional accreditation criteria (e.g. playground inspections, health consultation)

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation is a national voluntary system to measure the quality of child care centers and preschool and to help these programs improve.
