Eastern Shore AEYC

News:

Here is the schedule of meetings for the Eastern Shore Chapter of Maryland Association for the Education of Young Children:  Please put these dates on your calendar!  I will also send out a reminder of the meetings closer to the actual day, as well as the locations when we get  that worked out.  All meeting times are scheduled for 6:30 pm, except for the Fair, which will be from 9:30 to 3:30.

Meeting Schedule:
October 4th kickoff for the year: We will meet at the Hunan restaurant next to the Cherokee Lanes in Fruitland.  This will be primarily a business meeting.

Among items on the agenda:  we will discuss possibility of doing something for the community and early childhood, such as spending a Saturday clean up Ben’s Red Swings? Please RSVP to this meeting as we will need to know if we can get a larger room, or will we just need to eat at a big table.  Since we are meeting at a restaurant, we will expect that you buy your own meal, or at the very least a drink or something small.

  • November 3-6:  NAEYC national conference in Anaheim, CA. Karen Goldman Karten is presenting her mobile science museum.
  • November  29: Talk about the status of QRIS.  There is a lot going on in Early Childhood about this topic.
  • January 24:  Public policy -if not, between the 17th and the 28th. We will get someone to come who knows about the topic, and we will send out an announcement with a more precise date.  It depends on who we get to come and their schedule.
  • March 7: Prep for fair- we will try to do the organization of the fair together instead of landing all of the work on one person. Though we still need someone to take charge!
  • April 9: Wishful date for the Fair.  Maybe we can get the Centre in Salisbury to schedule this a little earlier this year, so we can get more publicity.
  • May ?  Closing meeting – I and the other board members can’t think this far ahead, but what about a picnic this month? Let me know what you think!

Let me know if you have a burning issue that needs to go on the schedule or an agenda item please.   Donna J. Satterlee
